William Shakespeare
translation by Delphine Lemonnier-Texier

Baptista, a rich citizen of Padua, has two daughters: Bianca, the younger, beautiful and wise, and Catherine, the eldest, rebellious and angry. Bianca attracts the pretenders as surely as her sister pushes them away with her sharp splits.
Baptista then takes a radical decision: lock Bianca until a man marries Catherine. With Petruccio, initially baited by his dowry, but then piqued with curiosity by the account of his exploits, Catherine finally finds a partner of game to the height of his talent, an opponent to his disproportion.
